Questions

When is the best time to see the ice?

From mid-February to mid-March. The ice is 60–100 cm thick, wind clears the snow and you can see the bottom in shallow bays.

How do I get to Irkutsk?

Direct flights from Moscow (6 h) and St Petersburg (6.5 h); connections via Moscow from most international hubs. Tours start with a pick-up at Irkutsk airport.

Is the ice safe?

We only travel on checked ice roads using hovercraft and 4x4 vehicles with licensed drivers. If a section is unreliable, the route changes — this is written into every itinerary.

Do you need a visa?

Most visitors need a Russian visa or an e-visa (available for 60+ countries). We provide the tour confirmation needed for the application.
